City of Hickory Hypochlorite Replacement Project

General Description

The City of Hickory owns and operates a 32 million gallon per day (MGD) regional Water Treatment Facility that serves the City and neighboring communities throughout Catawba County.  The City installed the state‚Äôs first On-site Sodium Hypochlorite Generator (OSHG) system in 2004 to provide chlorine disinfection at the facility.  The original OSHG system reached the end of its useful life and required replacement.  HMW provided design, bidding and construction phase services for the construction of a new 800 lb/day OSHG system.

HMW incorporated 3-D Laser Scanning, 360 degree photography, and 3-D modeling to provide accurate documentation of existing conditions and proposed improvements.  HMW also performed an equipment pre-selection analysis evaluate the most suitable OSHG technology for the application.
