Client: Pickens County Solid Waste Department –South Carolina
Status: Started 2001; Ongoing
Since 2001, HMW has provided Pickens County with engineering, environmental, and regulatory services associated with management of the closed Easley Class III Landfill, the active Easley Class II Landfill, and the closed Clemson-Central Class III Landfill. These activities included hydrogeological assessments, groundwater monitoring and reporting, monitoring well installation and documentation, stormwater monitoring and reporting, C&D landfill permitting and expansions, assistance with the Title V air permit, and landfill gas monitoring and mitigation.
HMW successfully negotiated with SC DHEC to approve the remedy for the site. This was the first landfill in South Carolina to be granted a corrective measure for groundwater that relies on natural attenuation. HMW conducts semi-annual and annual groundwater and corrective measures monitoring for both the Easley and Clemson-Central landfills using conventional bailing and low-flow pumping methods.
